This Trilogy is a story about a small boy, who at the age of four, experienced the Japanese invasion of the then Dutch East Indies and spent his formative years in different Japanese concentration camps on the island of Java. This novel recalls real events witnessed by the author during the years of Japanese occupation.
The stories in this novel are filled with both horror as well as humor, showing the inhumanity men is capable of as well as the resilience of spirit and how love and respect can overcome most obstacles. Although the book was originally written for adults, it has developed into a story of interest to young readers. Many subject, such as war and terrorism, power and wealth, the value of life and death, ownership and responsibility, are explained to a small child from a multi-cultural perspective. The story reveals the outlook of an old native woman showing a small boy the effects of fear and negative thoughts, and how they create his personal reality.
The author intends to donate $2.00 of his royalties for each hard cover book sold of the "DEATH OF THE PHOENIX", to organizations involved in saving children from abuse and neglect.
